About the show

Here at Cake or Death cooking we love to cook! We believe that cooking should be fun, faff-free and all about the flavours. We want to share our passion, so we have put together a set of podcasts for you with recipes that you should find simple, quick and easy to prepare – leaving you to get on with the other important things in your life.

On each of our podcasts, Elle and her ragbag of guest presenters will guide you through a yummy recipe and you can find all of our recipes in full here.

Our recipes are generally very quick and simple. We’re aware that you might not want to spend a lot on cooking up a storm, so on the whole our recipes are made with ingredients that are inexpensive. If you live in shared accommodation or have limited space, then you’ll love these recipes, as they need little space to prepare and only basic equipment. A lot of them are made to be cooked with other people – make it a social event why not? But we’ve also thrown in a set that are ideal for one person. Here at Cake or Death we have trouble thinking inside the box, so our recipes are generally original and a bit ‘special’.

Who are we?

Elle, our head cook is somewhat obsessed with cooking and talking to people about their culinary habits. Chatting with her friends over the last year, she found quite a few like cooking, but say they don’t really have a chance to get down to it and want fresh ideas for simple recipes. She wanted to share her love of the kitchen and give people ideas and confidence to cook yummy food, so she started throwing together recipes. People liked them so she started writing and sharing more and more.

Enter Dave – our esteemed producer and podcast passionista. Dave and Elle, founders of a much heralded but somewhat eccentric cheese festival, felt the calling for a cooking podcast. And over several pints and a bowl of bad chips……….Cake or Death was formed. Quite a few of our friends wanted to get involved, so for every few podcasts we have a different guest presenter who brings their own style (and often daft questions too) to the kitchen.
